It is the season to enjoy the changing colours and bring out the elegant winter clothes. But make sure your body is enjoying the season as much as you! As temperatures drop and humidity lessens, your skin loses moisture and may feel dry and stretched. The dry winds can also play havoc with your hair making it dry and frizzy. Turning up the temperatures indoors also contributes to skin and hair losing precious moisture. So here are some tips to help you get prepared for the fall and the colder winter days that follow.
Layer, layer, layer away for your skin!
Just as you do with the latest pieces from the fall collection, your skin and hair can also do with some layering this season. First treat your skin to some gentle love with short showers in lukewarm water. Our handcrafted honey and milk bath soap will soothe and nourish your skin with its luscious mix of honey and cocoa butter. Or you could opt for the fresh orange and honey body wash that will similarly pamper your skin with its buttery mix and divine fragrance. Once out of the shower, immediately treat your skin to some custard body butter or go all out with olive mocha whipped cocoa body butter. Your facial skin will be thankful for some 24 karat gold serum while the skin is yet to be completely dry. This will keep it moisturised for longer and you can go ahead and wear your regular make up over it so the moisture stays locked in while you continue to look your best. You can additionally protect your hands and feet with specially formulated creams that are specifically meant for the harder and more exposed skin in those areas.
And don’t forget to indulge your lips too! Lips can get chapped and flaky in this season so make sure you slather on some strawberry shea butter lip balm or Vitamin E cocoa butter lip balm to ensure they stay soft and supple. At the end of the day, when you have your make up removed, why not use a customised face mask that will rejuvenate and hydrate your skin so it is ready to face the next day, brighter than ever?
Heart your hair
Your hair can literally weather any storm if it is healthy from within. So don’t limit your hair care to just the dry months! A hibiscus hair mask can revitalise your hair preventing any scalp irritation while the aloe vera smoothens and moisturises. A gentle shampoo with hydrating and strengthening properties can take care of the dust and grime while keeping hair soft and shiny. In this season, hair oils can also be a great boon in fighting dryness and keeping the hair from getting frizzy. You can even personalise a product that will address your specific concerns and help you to look great in any weather!
Stay nourished
And of course, no amount of products can take care of your skin if it is not healthy from within! Cut out the salt and junk food and stock up on Vitamin C and E rich avocados and foods that give you plenty of Omega 3 – like fish and nuts. Virgin olive oil and eggs are also your friends this season. But most importantly, rely on that most hydrating of all that we consume – water! Make use of all the seasonal greens and fruit to stay nourished and don’t skimp on the exercise routines. Remember that party season is just around the corner!
